Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Positive Impact

At the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition (CyEC), we strive to cultivate a thriving and innovative startup ecosystem in Cyprus. Leveraging the research output, infrastructure, and expertise available at the University of Cyprus, we aim to empower aspiring entrepreneurs to compete on a global scale and drive positive change. Running annually, usually in the last quarter of the year, CyEC invites startups from across Cyprus to apply and compete. The competition provides a platform for entrepreneurs to refine their ideas, build valuable networks, and showcase their ventures, fostering innovation and sustainable business growth.

Accelerator 2025

BENEFITS of CyEC

CyEC offers two pathways for startups: the Accelerator, which combines hands-on workshops with the chance to pitch for a cash prize, and the Launchpad, tailored for more mature startups ready to scale. Launchpad teams proceed directly to the pitching event, where they also compete for a cash prize and showcase their ventures to an audience that includes potential investors and other key stakeholders.

Accelerator Opportunity

For startups at the concept stage or with an MVP but no users.

Commitment

Participate in nine (9) in-person sessions where at least one member of the team needs to be present.

Pitch for a Chance to Win a Cash Prize

After completing the Accelerator workshops, Stage 1 and Stage 2 startups pitch their ideas in a final competition exclusively with other early-stage teams. This is your chance to showcase your progress, validate your solution, and compete for a cash prize.

Pitch to Investors

The accelerator ends with an opportunity to pitch your startup to investors and showcase its potential for future growth.

Launchpad Opportunity

For startups with users or already generating revenue.

No time commitment – go straight to the pitch event.

Joining the startup Launchpad event that grants you access the pitch competition and non-mandatory access to the foundational accelerator courses:

Non–Mandatory Attendance to the Foundational Courses

Join selected accelerator workshops that might fuel your startup’s growth, based on approval by the CyEC team. If you’re interested, ask about this opportunity after submitting your application.

Expand Your Network

Network and connect with leading business professionals, innovative entrepreneurs, and potential investors during the pitching event.

Pitch for a Chance to Win a Cash Prize

Launchpad startups in Stage 3 (MVP with users) or Stage 4 (generating revenue) go straight to the final pitching event, competing alongside other growth-stage ventures.

Pitch to Investors

By getting accepted into Launchpad, you secure your place in a pitching competition to win a cash prize and gain exposure to investors seeking new investment opportunities.
